John McTavish is one of the most experienced leaders in Australian Real Estate and brings a world of diverse knowledge to the role of Licensee of EXP NSW

John has had careers in the entertainment industry, Electronics and communications,  retail  and wholesale distribution and tertiary education.

After 12 years as a professional musician john took on the role of CEO Bose corporation in Australia and with his wife Annette and best friend David Bell quickly propelled the company to the number one loudspeaker brand in the Hi Fi Industry with a never before seen domination of market share for a high end product.

His early days at LJ Hooker saw him heavily involved in the development of the LJH System as the standard by which all other Real Estate technology systems were judged.

From 1996 to 1998  John was responsible for product development and training and in 1998 he moved into area management looking after 110 offices in Sydney and southern NSW before moving to  New Zealand to take over the running of the franchise in its early days in the new country. 

In 2007 he headed up Elders residential push into franchising in that country and returned Australia in 2010 with his Annette to be closer to the ever growing family. 

For the next 10 years he was a coach and mentor to the industry and found himself drawn back in to the teaching  role doing a series of training in Bangalore for CREA  in 2014 and then as a lecturer  in  real estate teaching an undergraduate course at ICMS Manly. John was also Asian representative associate for compensation master. A company based in the USA and widely recognised as the foremost experts in compensation plans for the real estate industry. 

He joined eXp as an independent salesperson in 2020 and was asked to take on the position of Licencee for NSW in ???? , A role  which he proudly claims is the most rewarding and satisfying he has ever had in his  long career.

John sums up this role by paraphrasing ‘founder’, Glen Sanford’s words  “This company exists for the benefit of the agents in it and their families.  We are completely and obsessively focused on other people’s success and therein lies the absolute simplicity and the beauty of  the model.
